Gold Coast Chiropractic Care
Move Well, Enjoy Life
Pain has a way of stealing the everyday — sleep, work, time with the kids, the surf you've been looking forward to. At Palm Beach Chiropractic, we help you understand what's going on and put together a plan to get you moving and feeling better.
Dr Paul Cater opened the clinic on Palm Beach Avenue in 2013. Dr James Shipway joined the team in 2018. Together they look after locals from across the southern Gold Coast — Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Elanora, Tugun, Currumbin, the valleys, and the Tweed border.
You don't need a referral. We see all ages — newborns through to grandparents. And whether you want firmer manual adjustments or a more gentle, low-impact approach, we'll work out what suits you best.
We treat back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, sciatica, sports injuries, shoulder pain, scoliosis, disc issues, muscular tightness, posture concerns, and more.

Got a question?
Frequently asked questions
Where is Palm Beach Chiropractic located?
We're at 1/28 Palm Beach Avenue, Palm Beach QLD 4221 — ground floor with parking out front. Easy access from the M1, Gold Coast Highway and surrounding suburbs.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No — you don't need a referral. You can book directly online or call (07) 5534 5005.
What does the initial consultation cost?
The initial consultation is $100, or $92 for students and children. This includes a full chiropractic and postural examination, neurological and orthopedic testing, a Foot Leveler scan, and your first treatment if appropriate.
Do you accept health fund rebates?
Yes. We accept all major health funds with HICAPS for on-the-spot rebates — you only pay the gap.
How long does a first visit take?
Allow 45–60 minutes for your first visit. We talk through what's going on, perform a thorough examination, walk through what we've found, and start treatment if it's appropriate that day.
Do I need X-rays?
If you already have recent X-rays we can request access to them ready for your first visit. Many people don't need X-rays, but sometimes we prefer to take a closer look and get more detailed information — in those cases we'll refer you to get X-rays, which are bulk-billed. Conveniently, South Coast Radiology is located right next door.
Is chiropractic care suitable during pregnancy?
Chiropractic care is commonly used to help with musculoskeletal pain during pregnancy. We use gentle, adapted techniques and assess each individual carefully. Speak with our chiropractors about whether it's suitable for you.
Can children see a chiropractor?
Yes — Dr Paul Cater has a special interest in paediatric chiropractic care and treats children of all ages, from newborn babies to teens. Treatment for children is very gentle and adapted to their stage of development.
What suburbs do you service?
We see patients from across the southern Gold Coast — Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Elanora, Tugun, Currumbin, Currumbin Valley, Tallebudgera Valley and Koala Park, plus surrounding areas. Many patients also travel from across the border in NSW.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Chiropractic care is generally well tolerated. As with any healthcare, adverse reactions are possible — your chiropractor will discuss this with you before any treatment begins. We adapt our techniques to suit each patient, including very gentle low-impact options where required.
Do you offer Saturday appointments?
Saturday appointments are available by arrangement — please call us on (07) 5534 5005 to discuss availability.
